Small lithium batteries are very commonly used in small, portable electronic devices, such as PDA's , IC cards, cameras, watches, thermometers, toys, calculators, as backup batteries in computers and communication equipment, electric key and in remote car locks. Although they are more costly (in comparison to alkaline cells), lithium cells will provide much longer life, thereby minimizing battery replacement.
With about 80% of the battery market, the lithium battery is one of the most common consumer grade battery. It uses inexpensive materials and is suitable for low-drain, long-life, low-cost applications. It has high energy density per both mass and volume and can deliver high pulse currents and high capacity. Can function in wide temperature range (about 60 °C), with discharge the internal impedance rises and the terminal voltage decreases. Also has high self-discharge at high temperatures and has excellent leakage resistance with a long storage life.
